Boarding up a house in the unlikely event your home is foreclosed on is best done by a professional company. In Las Vegas, Nevada there are several companies that will board up your home keeping it safe from pests, rodents and vandalism. When looking for a board up company it is always best to check their references and always, before hiring one, check with your bank.

Although Las Vegas participates in a foreclosure prevention program, with the economy as turbulent as it has been, and more and more people losing their jobs, it is important to protect your investment even after your home has been foreclosed on.

If your house does become foreclosed on and is boarded up your neighbors will likely become extremely unhappy with you. They will see this as a way for their property value to lower and a sign that economic distress is at their own doorstep. It is important for your sake and theirs that your boarded up home be kept clean and safe.

A growing number of cities across the country are aggressively forcing owners of foreclosed and abandoned properties to clean them up, Las Vegas is going after them ...
... full force with the help of an ordinance that is three years old and rarely used.

Under this law, Las Vegas' Neighborhood Services Department oversees all clean up of decaying or ignored homes that generate neighborhood complaints and grievances. The city may water lawns or clean pools and go after the owners for the cost incurred. If they don't pay, they are hit with a hefty fine of $500 a day.

Although some cities have banned the use of plywood to board up a home stating that the look of a boarded up house attracts squatters and vandals, others allow it as long as the property is maintained to a certain level of aesthetics and safety. If you have already begun the foreclosure process and your house is in the process of being boarded up it is important to check with your town or city's ordinance department to make sure you are doing all you can to keep your property safe and your neighbors from complaining.

Foreclosures are on the rise and everything must be done to keep the value of your property safe from future harm including vandalism, squatters and rodents. Keep it maintained and safe and it will not be an eye sore and should not contribute to property values going down.
