A trip to Kufri is like a sojourn to paradise, especially for those who love the hills. Kufri is a tiny hill station that located at a hardly distance of 13km from Shimla in Himachal Pradesh. The name Kufri itself means something that is cold and the place got its name from a pond named Kufer lying in the lap of Himachal Pradesh. Studies say that Kufri was discovered by British in the year 1819 and was once under the control of Nepal. Place gained the status of summer capital in the year 1865. Himalayan Nature Park located near Kufri which came into existence in the year 1996 is a best known tourist attraction in Kufri. Park is composed with vivid varieties of rare species of animals like musk deer, leopard and black bear and a rare collection of migratory birds. Tibetan wolf, Sambhar, Ghoral and barking deer are other species of animals found in this park. Himalayan Nature Park is a favorite destination for zoologists and ornithologists. Tour trips to Himalayan Nature Park, especially during winter season seems to be very difficult because region near this park will be covered with a blanket of snow from the month of December to March.

The peaceful serene ambiance here is also well suited for a spell of quiet rejuvenating meditation. A fine cafeteria known as Cafe Lalit is located here. Run by the Himachal Tourism Board, the cafeteria may not serve the best coffee but definitely takes care of your hunger pangs. You can easily fit in a visit to the park in your travel planner as the place is very near to the Himalayan National Park and just about 19 km and 6 km from Shimla and Fagu respectively.

Mahasu peak is the highest peak and one among the famous Kufri attractions grabbing the hearts of tourists.

One more place of interest is Naldehra which offers a view of the deep valley and is famous for the oldest golf course in India. It is around 230 kms from Shimla. It got its name from the famous Naag Temple and is a year round picnic spot in the valley.

Along with an abundance of its very own travel charms, Kufri is also located pretty close to the popular Himachal Pradesh destinations of Chail and Solan. The Kufri to Chail distance is approximately 35 km. Top tourist attractions include Kali ka Tibba, Chail Wildlife Sanctuary and Cricket Ground. The distance from Kufri to Solan is about 60 km. Some of the major tourist attractions at Solan are Monkey Point and Karol Tibba & Meteol Tibba. It takes about one and a half hour's time to reach from Kufri to Solan by car.
