The Woodville Palace Shimla Offers Charm And Memories

The Woodville Palace Shimla has a place in history that few other structures in Shimla do. The rich heritage that backs the hotel is visible even today in many small intricacies of this establishment and the enterprise certainly does justice to the tag of a palace hotel. The early years of the palace date back to the year 1886 when the Commander In Chief of the Imperial Army, Sir William Mansfield, stayed in this structure as its first resident. The sprawling estate as well as the palace soon went into the hands of His Highness Maharaja Bhagvat Sinh, the erstwhile ruler of the State of Gondal in Western India who bought it for his daughter, Rani Leila Ba. Raja Rana Sir Bhagat Chand, her husband, later pulled down the original structure and the new structure was constructed in the year 1938. The new structure was built with a considerable amount of planning the still standing structure today offers guests the very same taste of royalty.
The new palace was partly opened to public as a hotel in the year 1977 and the palace hotel today serves hundreds of guests each year, some of them no less than royalty themselves. The ...
... stately structure is no doubt one of the most sought after properties in the whole of Shimla and every visitor makes it a point to stay at the hotel once he happens to find out about it. The interiors as well as the exteriors of the Woodville Palace Shimla remind guests of the extravagance and charm of the British era and take them back in time. Luxury as well as an old world charm makes for an unbeatable combination and this is exactly what the hotel offers.
There are 30 well kept rooms at the hotel, each of them furbished in a style that gives guests the feel of absolute luxury. There are two wings to the hotel, and each of them has rooms and suites in them. The Palace Wing hosts the Royal Suite, the Imperial Rooms, and the Deluxe Rooms. Deluxe Rooms are also found in the Heritage Wing and so are the Majestic Suite and Princely Suite. Almost every room and suite in the hotel is different from the other and there is a quite a chance that is guests happen to visit the hotel and book the same type of room they might actually end up in room very differently made up than the other.
The hotel has played host to a number of dignitaries and famous guests and the staff of the hotel often have anecdotes to share with interested guests. All in all, the Woodville Palace Shimla offers an experience unlike any other hotel in the ‘Queen of Hill Stations’.
