By going cork you have showna commitment to the environment. We respect your decision and are here to help you make your time worth the effort. Cork is one of the most sustainable and renewable flooring options available on the market today. But that’s not its only benefit.

Cork flooring has that warm, all-natural look and feel of wood. Couple that with a cellular structure similar to a honeycomb and you’ve got one unique product. The structure is made up of millions of cells filled with air. These air-filled cells are what give cork its insulating properties. Drop something heavy on it or stomp across it, and be awed by the ability of these cells as they absorb the sound so you are not subjected to any of the thumping sounds that are common with other hard flooring surfaces. Its temperature insulating property comes in really handy during the cold season. Walk around barefoot and note that you won’t have to raise the thermostat to compensate. The flooring surface stays comfortable no matter what the temperature. Compare that to the cold, uncomfortable feeling of stepping onto a hardwood or stone floor ...
... in the winter months.
Impressed? Now here’s a little know-how on its upkeep to ensure that it stays looking and performing great for years to come.
Cork floors are by nature water, mold and mildew resistant. Still that does not make it completely impervious, so cork will need your help to maintain its gorgeous appearance. Best thing to do is not to let water stand on your floor for extended periods of time. Wipe or mop up as soon as possible. Over exposure can lead to unsightly warping.
Sweep regularly with a soft bristle ended broom or even dry vacuum to keep floors free of coarse debris. You candamp mop a cork floor. Avoid saturating the floor surface. Soft mops, terrycloth, or microfiber mop heads are recommended to keep your cork floor surface looking its best. For best results use a cleaner specifically made for cork floors, often its best to go with the manufacturer’s recommendation, but a mild solution of soap works as well. For tough stains, don’t scrub too hard, you may well remove more of the finish rather than the stain. Instead, spot treat a stain with a mild cleaner and wipe up with a microfiber cloth.
You will want to use a “neutral floor cleaner”. Do not use harsh cleaning detergents on your cork floor - this may cause irreparable damage. As an alternative, forgo harsh cleaners or specially made products with a little home remedy. Mix ½ cup of white vinegar with a gallon of water. Then damp mop as usual.
You guessed it! Vinegar and water make the perfect “neutral floor cleaner”!
Cork flooring will last you a long time with the proper care - keep your floor looking its best with regular cleaning.
