Volkswagen Golf is a famous hatchback and it is celebrating its 34th anniversary and its sixth incarnation has arrived. The German company is promising the Mk6 will deliver unmatched luxury and refinement. The new Golf comes equipped with a head restrain system which is designed to reduce whiplash injuries and an upgraded ESP system. When we think of luxury and refinement there is no doubt this model ticks all the right boxes. However, Golf’s increased reliance on electronics has stolen the dynamic appeal it once had. The Golf doesn’t come close to the spaciousness of Skoda Octavia, but it does manage to make a comfortable journey for a family of five. Two adults can sit comfortably in the back with enough knee and headroom space. The boot is nice and big too. Each Golf has Blue Motion technology which means engine stop start and break energy regeneration as standard. All Blue Motion cars emit just 82g/km of CO2 emissions. All of this doesn’t come at an extremely high cost as it is competitively priced. The Golf has strong resale values as well which make it a very handsome investment.

Volkswagen had made massive improvements in developing refinement and the fresh looks are somewhat cautious. Golf is unrivalled for the ride comfort and quietness on the road in this class. But still the driving experience has suffered and the MkVI doesn’t give the same level of involvement as the MkIV. Having said that, Golf will get through motorway journeys like an executive car.
