An Alternative To Prescription Eyeglasses
In modern times, there has been a push toward an alternative to prescription eyeglasses. With the current rise in prices, who can blame people for wanting to look for safe alternatives that cost less? Of course, they also might have heard some about the recent findings that traditional concave or minus lenses may cause acceleration of vision loss. A solution to either of these may come in the form of an age old technology called pinhole eyeglasses.
Pinhole technology has been used as far back as the 5th Century BC by the ancient Chinese and has been used as a vision aid by Eskimos for centuries to protect them from the glare caused by the sun on their frozen lands. The Eskimos' version came in fabric and wood with narrow slits. The pinhole glasses we know today did not come into general public use until the 20th century. At that time, cumbersome versions that caused double vision were developed that did not gain too much favor with a vast amount of ...
... people.
Today's technology, however, has allowed for vast improvements in the design of these vision aids. The materials developed today plus the use of lasers and better production methods have made these glasses a more viable option. Frames and lenses now are made as light as regular glasses and can be made to look more stylish than their predecessors. The laser cut pinholes are made just the right size and distance apart to not cause double vision and focus light properly for better overall vision.
Pinhole glasses work to stop light from going to inappropriate areas of the eye as what happens in various eye disorders to cause blurry vision. They reduce the amount of angles at which light can enter the eye to eliminate blurring and distorted images. This is achieved by the pinholes only filtering direct light through with narrow angular paths through to the cornea. This achieves same aim as squinting to see better, with less stress to the eye.
Pinhole technology in glasses may be the way of the future. In fact, with today's lighter and more attractive designs, the popularity of this form of glasses is rising. Soon, it may be a common thing to see a friend or neighbor with a pair of pinhole glasses. They are already becoming a viable option for a good amount of people who find them the perfect solution.
Mike has been writing and publishing articles about health products. He recently came across a website on pinhole glasses which gave information about this old technique of using pinhole glasses for eyesight correction. Mike himself had tried the product and found it quite beneficial. Here's an article about pinhole glasses.
