Handmade Soaps Vs Readymade Soaps
Soaps are created by the chemical combination of oils, water and lye and this recipe has been found in documents of as early as 2800 B.C. The first real presence of any soap has been found as early as 556-539 B.C. Even in the present era, the same ingredients are used to manufacture the handmade soaps. As they are free of any chemicals, unlike the conventional soaps we buy and use, the former are better than the latter in all aspects.
The soaps that we use in our daily lives put more stress on fragrance than killing the germs. As these fragrances vary from the soaps made by one company to another and they consider these as trade secrets, these are hardly mentioned in the composition of the soap. Thus, you are not really sure as to which chemicals are going into your body while you use them. The Natural Resources Defense Council is battling hard to ban these chemicals being used in the soaps. The chemicals used in various low-grade soaps like Laureth Sulphate (SLES), Sodium Lauryl Sulphate (SLS) and other such chemical substances actually have a degrading effect ...
... on our skin. The major part of chemical substances used in soaps to enhance their fragrance is made up of artificial components like benzene offshoots, aldehydes which are derived from petroleum. They cause several diseases in human beings such as cancer, issues during birth, central nervous system problems and allergy besides many others.
There are various advantages of using the hand made soaps. The creator can be quite unique and experimental while making the soaps using different oils, ingredients, natural derivatives. Be it baby showers to marriages, these soaps can be given as gifts. The receiver will feel great with such a personal touch. As mostly vegetable oils are used, these soaps are milder than the conventional soaps and thus good for our skin. You can also add glycerin to the soaps when using them in winter seasons.
