BMW 5 Series – Elegance At Its Best

A car with all round impressive and brilliant talent, an excellent performing engine and a superb cabin. This is just one of the cars out of the fantastic BMW range and though it is very well performing there are a few things that need to be worked on. Form the exterior, it seems that with the 5 Series, BMW is playing a safe game and has not gone out of its way to stand out. The interior, however is a different story altogether. With an updated and very powerful engine and an option of an eight speed gearbox the interior of this BMW definitely stands out. This is said to be a more sophisticated and refined version then any of its predecessors.

There is an excellent combination of performance and economy which is enhanced even more by the efficient dynamics that are in the car. There is a saloon and an estate available and also an amazing twin turbo V8. There are few trim levels to choose from and whichever you choose you do not lose out on any of the luxuries. The car is also full of technology that makes it even more stylish and modern. With four wheel steering and adjustable dampers as well as active anti roll bars it is very up to date and in competition. The BMW 5 Series has been awarded with a full 5 star EURO NCAP crash test rating. The standard safety features include 6 airbags, traction control and stability control. There is an option for a heads up display allowing the driver to keep their eyes on the road ahead. BMW 5 Series does not come with 4 wheel drive system, therefore in cold weather it is best to invest in a set of winter tyres. There aren't any major reliability issues reported. In Auto Express 2012 Driver Survey, the 5 Series scored an 11th position.

The new BMW 5 Series is also bigger and wider though not massive. Moving on to the interior the BMW has a class elegant and expensive look and feel to it. Though it is not as simple as the Mercedes and takes some getting used to, once you know how to work them they are very pleasant and enjoyable for the driver. There is also more room in the interior which is probably because the size has been increased. The shoulder head and leg room is more than adequate and means that everyone will have a pleasant journey whether the driver or the passenger. There is a luggage capacity of 520 litres and though it's not terrible when it comes to their arches it is slightly narrow. Overall the BMW 5 Series is a good car whether it is the drive, design or the comfort.
