What Is A Clay Oven?
Although you may not have heard the term clay oven, you will more than likely come across and maybe even used one before. The truth is that clay ovens are much more widely used than you would imagine.
Nicknamed a pizza oven or a wood fire oven, a clay oven is a traditional cooker. Clay ovens have been around for hundreds of years. They may have changed and improved over recent years, but their original form can be dated back many, many years.
You’ll recognise a clay over by its dome-shaped clay structure. Although the design of it can vary this is the one part of a clay oven that stays the same no matter what the design is and how big/small the oven is. These ovens do come in all shapes and sizes, which means that no matter how much (or how little) you do cooking there will be an oven to suit you. In fact you can even get industrial sized Clay oven if you are looking for something to use in your restaurant. As well as the dome shaped structure you will usually find that a clay oven comes with a brick floor and a chimney.
The great thing about clay ovens ...
... is the fact that they look spectacular. You can use them as a centre piece in almost any garden as they come in so many designs. What you can be sure of is that no matter what type of clay oven you go for, it will get people talking!
Of course when you are talking about something that cooks food, it isn’t just about the look – you also want to know the food you are getting is going to be tasty! Clay ovens cook food like no other – so if you want an alternative to a barbecue for cooking fish, meat and even bread then look no further! Of course as their nick name suggests, this is also a great way to cook pizzas. In fact many pizza shops insist on having only these as their ovens in the kitchen because they bake pizzas so efficiently.
