A manager seeks only output from their workers. To accomplish this, some crack their whips, some sugar coats their tongues, and some provide gifts, etc. What most of these people forget is the office layout. Over the years, it has become apparent that the layout of the work space affects the overall well being of the business and the workers. Most of us even go to the extent of seeing the work cubicles as prison, just limited to the chair and staring at the office furniture. This article enlists some methods by which the office environment can be improved and this is to all those who feel that they should be doing something for their workers.


The first step is to lose the cube. It may sound to be a paradigm breaking concept, but the cube has ceased to be the place to provide sanctity. It is now associated with shame, isolation, boredom, monotony and even mediocrity. If the cubicle is dropped, the employees can feel open and fresh. Most of us spend many hours in this area, and therefore it is necessary that the area is more comfortable. The customization promotes happiness and comfort. It is important that the layout of the organization is dynamic and this can be accomplished by simply decorating it with wall papers, motivational quotes, general pieces, etc. Taking the suggestion of the workers also induces loyalty and importance. There can be blackboards to create a simple interactive platform to add that bit of casual flair that is so important nowadays. The idea is to foster happiness and openness and this can be started from the simple workstation desk.


Thirdly, inducing many natural light help in improving the work ambience and employee output. If there is no light available, it is important that the organization is well lit and more open. Lights that simulate the natural light can be installed. The idea is to keep the mood bright and this can be achieved by adding comfortable lighting.


Fourthly, the comfort and coziness of the employee should be kept in mind when designing the interiors.
