Muay Thai – An Evolved Form Of Ancient Boxing
Overview
Martial art is a traditional art form which involves practices useful in combat. Martial art has been spreading to different parts of the world ever since its birth. This has gained more interest and concentration of the people recently from the 19th century when martial art was recognized as a modern art form. The style and nature of the martial art changes from place to place or it can be said that every place has its own local martial art form. Like in India it is Kalaripayatu, in Japan Taekwondo is the most practiced martial art forms, similarly in Thailand, it is muay thai in Nj.
What is Muay Thai?
This martial art form Muay Thai makes use of clinching and stand up knocking techniques. It is a form of kickboxing. The mental and physical castigation along with the skills involved imparts a name ‘art of eight weapons’ to this form of martial art as it uses eight parts like elbow, shins, feet, fists, knees, etc., A person who practices mma classes in nj is known as Nak Muay. This is said to have evolved from the ancient boxing form ...
... known as Muay Boran. It is practiced during local festivals and also in case of any kind of temple celebrations.
Different tactics used in this martial art form
There are two major types of kicks in Muay Thai known as ‘thip’ i.e., a foot thrust and the other is ‘te chiang’ which involves the kicking upwards and movement of the foot in a triangle cutting the ribs and under the arm. This style of kicking is known as a roundhouse kick as it associates with the round or rotational movement of the foot. There are many other techniques using the knee namely khao loi, khao dot, khao thon, etc.,
While in other western forms the fighters are separated or moved apart on clinching, it is not so in case of this martial art form as clinching is amongst the important positions to execute different fight strategies. There are also many variants of clinches like arm clinch, side clinch, low clinch and swan neck which are used in different positions.
Coming to the defense strategies associated with this martial art, blocking, avoidance and redirection are the important ones. Blocking involves the stopping of the strike from the opponent to reach the desired target. Avoidance implies that the strike of the opponent is avoided by just moving the targeted body part away while redirection is where the defender redirects the strike of the opponent thus, missing the strike. There are many other effective defense tactics like evasion, anticipation and disruption to name a few.
Rising Thai fame
This martial art requires a lot of exercise and warm up sessions before beginning the practice. This form of martial art apart from being constrained to Thailand is in much demand outside like in places like New Jersey, Florida, New York City and other parts of the globe.
