Heating A Bathroom With Storage Heaters/radiators
Bathrooms need to be warm and they need to be warm at exactly the right time - when you are getting out of the shower or bath. Electric radiators heat up quickly providing warmth exactly when you want it.
Bathrooms need to be warm and they need to be warm at exactly the right time - when you are getting out of the shower or bath.
As bathrooms are often wet and damp from the moisture in the air, normal towel rails often struggle to heat and dry the air in the bathroom, they just simply keep one side of a towel dry.
An electric storage heater provides the instant and controllable heat required in a bathroom and an area for drying and warming towels. Additional space for towels can be created by installing normal towel rails above the electric storage heater so they are warm and dry when you need them allowing you to have warmer towels all year round.
Bathroom storage radiators heat up and dry the air very quickly making a bathroom warm and dry all the time. They need to be IPX4 rated, which means they have been constructed in accordance with electrical regulations, which define zones ...
... based on the distance from wet areas in a bathroom where electrical appliances can be fitted.
To be IPX4 rated, bathroom radiators have to be designed with extra protection against water splashing from any direction, this means there is more flexibility in positioning the electric radiator within the bathroom.
Modern electric heating systems have wireless thermostats to provide the most flexible control over heating. This is especially useful in a bathroom when heat may be required quickly at different times during the day.
Wireless thermostats allow the heat in different rooms to be controlled independently, so the heating within a house can be split into zones (either a room or number of rooms) which can have their own distinct temperature and time programme.
Some people worry about the cost of electric heating, doesn't electricity cost more than fuels like gas an oil?
In fact, when all the costs of electrical heating are taken into account, including:
- the annual fuel cost
- the operational lifetime of the system
- maintenance costs - the original capital and installation cost
Electric heating can be a much more economical option that traditional gas and oil heating.
