I Have To Stop Taking All These Shortcuts
Up until today, I would look at some type of promotion event that would get my a lot of new subscribers and then I would have to come up with a product real quick and then create the squeeze page and the donwload page. Instaed, I should have first spent my time creating a product and then putting together the web pages and then after everything was completed looking for a giveaway event where I could sign up as a contributor.
Originally, this morning I was either going to join a giveaway as a contributor or buy a solo ad going out to a half million people. The giveaway would have cost me about $17 which pays for my product to be on the main site without me having to do any promoting since I do not have a large list at this time. When looking at a giveaway event to sign up as a contributor, make sure you look at other members of this giveaway because you don't want to just join a giveaway where there are only a few other contributors, The last giveaway I signed up for unfortunately did not have a lot of high profile contributors so all I got for the $17 fee I paid was like maybe a dozen signups.
Now one positive ...
... aspect of the way I used to do things is it set some time limits on me. If I signed up for a giveaway as a contributor which was set to launch in the next week then I now had less than a week to get everything else that was needed up and running. With the way I need to do things I need to put together a goal sheet with time limits on each task. Without this there will always be things that you will forget to do. It would also be good to do this with your complete daily activities also.
The best way to do things with an outline is to set up short term rewards for yourself. Give yourself a pat on the back every time you complete a task. It may take a little more time in the beginning to write everything out that needs to be done but it is well worth it in the end because you will have completed every task, nothing will be skipped over by mistake. Setting deadlines for each task also helps a great deal.
In the past when I had a new idea for a site I would just go ahead and throw up a site and the planning was minimal. I am great at teaching beginners so I just registered the domain onlyfornewbies dot com and now I can create a sub domain for every niche that Involved in like one for marketing another for computers and then another for programming. Everything with this new site will be done the correct way with goals and deadlines. With each step that I complete on time I will give myself a pat on the back and since I love chocolate chip cookies I may also reward myself with a couple of cookies for each task completed.
