5 Things To Search For In A Webhost Company
Picking a hosting company for your websites can be hard. Here are five points to look for in a hosting company:
1. What species of web hosting do you like?
Do you require Linux based hosting or Windows based hosting? Are you looking for a dedicated server or just a place to store a single website? There are advantages to having a dedicated server, and a good hosting company will be willing and able to walk you through these steps either via phone, email, or live chat, so that you can be sure you get the best plan for your needs and budget.
2. Price
Search around and look at the prices that various hosting providers are providing. Account for variables such as how much bandwidth and storage are offered by each hosting company per dollar amount. The cheapest cost may or may not include all the nice features though, so be certain to compare correctly.
3. Storage Space
How much space do you actually like. What kind of site are you looking to have hosted? Is it a simple mostly-text site, informational, with only a few picturesphotos and graphics? In this situation, space is not really ...
... a big deal. Thus, you can afford to pay less attention to how much space offered, and be concerned more regarding the other extras a particular hosting company may offer you, such as support or a solid reputation in the business.
On the other hand, if your site is based on music or video on it, space becomes a serious concern! In this situation, you'll want to look for the best space value, so to speak.
4. Bandwidth (also known as data transfer)
What is Bandwidth and why is it important? Bandwidth basically means the amount of visitors allowed every month, meaning how much digital information can travel from the server (where your site lives) to the person's computer who goes to your site. It's really that simple.
Each time someone goes to your site, their computer has to download all the pictures, graphics, text, and other multimedia your site may contain, so that their browser (such as Internet Explorer, Safari, Firefox, or Chrome) can display the site for the person viewing it.
What does this mean in the real world? You have a similar question here as you do with space: if your site has a lot of pictures, video, music or other multimedia content, you'll like a lot of Bandwidth to be provided each month by your hosting company. But again, if your site only contains text and perhaps 1 or 2images, this factor is far less critical!
Another issueto consider here is the quantity of people you expect visit your site. If your site is well promoted and marketed, you'll like more Bandwidth. If it's just a site for a few friends and family members, Bandwidth is less important.
5. The Human Factor
This includes a good reputation and dependable customer help. While this should go without saying, it is critical to remember that the lowest deal does not mean the best value - finding the lowest price monthly (or yearly) for your web hosting does not necessarily mean the best customer help after the sale! Word to the wise: research a hosting company before you commit to anything more than a monthly hosting.
If you want to try a hosting company out because they have cheap pricing, do so carefully by starting with one month of service. If they don't follow up after the sale with good technical service and dependable customer help, take your site somewhere else! Simple as that!
