Setting Up Your Tv - Tips For Audio, Tv Stands,
Are you tech savvy? If not, setting up a TV could be a serious drag! But it doesn't have to be. Here are a few ways to make setting up and watching your TV more fun, easier, more comfortable and more entertaining for you and your family!
Connecting Your TV:
First of all, whether you are setting up your TV for the first time or re-setting up an existing set, it's not that hard! Simply connect the outputs (OUT) of devices you want shows or movies to COME FROM to the inputs (IN) of devices you want shows or movies to appear on or be recorded by!
That's it!
Well, not exactly. Also, make sure that the inputs and outputs are of the same type and that you use the proper cable that matches this type, to connect them. Examples are: coaxial (cable), RCA (audio/video), HDMI, and so on. This may sound complicated! But all you need to do is ask the store where you bought your TV which type of cords (cables) to use, connect your ins and outs properly, and you're good to go!
Setup Tips:
Now that things are connected, let's look at how to make using your TV more fun. First of all, you should ...
... connect your audio/video sources (such as the cable box, DVD player, and so on) to your home theater system or to your home stereo. This makes it sound so much clearer, and enhances the theater experience (especially when watching movies, and especially when viewing movies on DVDs in particular).
If possible, your TV itself may have an audio output. Connect this output to your home theater system or stereo, ideally. This way, you won’t have to worry about continuously trying to make sure that the picture and the sound match (in terms of what source, such as a cable box, DVR, or DVD player, the video and sound are coming from).
If your TV does not have its own audio output, purchase an audio switcher and label the 1, 2, 3, 4 buttons with which components are connected, respectively. You can also use an A/V (audio/video) switcher which allows you to switch between all of your sources (cable, DVR, DVD and even video game systems). You may even opt to buy two switchers! Connect all your game systems to one A/V switcher and then connect that switcher to the input of your main switcher!
Positioning Tips:
Get your TV positioned just right for maximum viewing enjoyment can be tricky. You've basically got three options:
Plunk it down. If you have a piece of furniture our counter that you want your TV to sit on, just plunk your TV down. More often than not, though, this system doesn't work out very well.
TV Stand. Another option is to get a TV stand. A TV stand is a special piece of furniture than holds your TV, DVD player, etc. Using a TV stand can make it easier to properly position your TV in your room.
TV Brackets. A TV bracket, also called a TV mount or a LCD Bracket, allows you to mount your TV to the wall or ceiling. This is the most flexible and ideal option of all. Using a TV mount allows you to position your TV exactly where you like it, and not use up any floor space either. TV mounts are especially ideal for LCD / flat screen TVs.
Hopefully, this makes things easier and more fun, and allows you to feel free to easily use everything on one TV without the hassle or confusion of constantly hooking up and disconnecting things as you use them!
