The charisma of formal dress for men is primarily decided by its fit and tailoring. Wear formals that accentuate your physical presence and also keeps you comfortable. The formal wear ranges from a long line of regular fit and slim fit shirts paired with impeccably tailored flat front trousers.
How to choose your Formals:
Shirts: Long-sleeved shirts are considered dressier than short-sleeved and are appropriate even in summer. Choosing white or light blue solid, or conservative stripes is your safest bet. Since you probably aren't wearing ties and a jacket every day, your shirt needs to stand alone. Opt for bold colours, stripes, and patterns.
Pants: Remember, flat is equal to Flattering. A flat front trouser is much more modern and sleek than classic pleats. At minimum, you'll want a pair in dark grey, navy or navy stripe, and tan or brown.
Belt: Even the nicest flat front slacks look unfinished without a belt. A sleek self-textured belt in classic blacks and browns is recommended.
Shoes: The most important element of formal wear is footwear. You don't ...
... want anything too dressy so avoid shiny leather and very pointed toe, and you don't want anything too sloppy. The lace up leather shoes with round toes and the oxford shoes compliment your formal wear the best.
Ties: Ties are not always necessary for formals, but if you are in doubt, you can wear a tie. It never hurts to slightly overdress; by dressing nicely, you pay a compliment to your host.
