If you own a pre-2000 stair lift you have one of those products that came with a fixed saddle height configuration of about 60 centimetres, which was the standard those days when seat adjustment was not considered necessary and no one wanted a feature like that in their stair lifts. Recently demands have changed with people looking for products with adjustable seats. It was increasingly becoming apparent that seat height had to be closer to the normal height of seats that were already in use around the household. Another possible reason could be the increase in number of people wanting to use stairlifts South Carolina in the house. With more than one user in the house, it was becoming necessary to adjust the height of the seat according to their height of the person, or install different seats for each person, which was not practical. Hence the best possible alternative was to adapt the seat height to different heights allowing anyone to increase or decrease it in any order necessary.

This was a decided advantage of adjustable seats in stairlifts South Carolina ...
... and people began seeing that, even those who had more than one lift for some reason were limiting them to one single unit with adjustable seat feature in it. Doing this accomplishes a few things. First, it decreases the costs involved in operating (power bills) and maintaining (repair and upkeep bills) the unit, secondly, the amount of architectural changes that were necessary to install two separate units in the same house. Two different units exerted greater load on the integrity of the building. Reducing the burden to one change seemed sensible economically as well as from the architectural standpoint.

What was wrong with fixed seats?

The biggest problem was that people had to hop on and off the seat! Imagine what it would be like for a wheelchair bound person to exert that kind of physical stress on his failing joints! Not to mention the person had to prepare mentally of the worst that could happen if he missed the seat even by an inch and drop to the floor, especially at a time when there is nobody in the house except for the stair lifts user.

This risky affair had to be played out each day whenever the person wanted to be at a different level of the house. The risk multiplied manifold as soon as day light faded and darkness fell over making everything less visible for someone with poor eyesight. With adjustable seats, users could board the ride easily and land safely with a steady foot at the landing.
