Japanese Facelift
In February 2010, Philippine movie actress Nora Aunor underwent facelift operation at the Shinagawa Cosmetic Surgery Clinic in Japan. The facelift was part of her preparation for her comeback in the Philippine films from which she had been away for many years. The actress had sought out the operation to smoothen out her laugh lines, dermal fill her cheek bones, and lift her face to look younger and more beautiful on the movie screen. In less than three years after the operation, or in December 2012, the younger-looking actress in her 50s won the best actress award for her role in her comeback film “Thy Womb” during the Philippine annual Metro Manila Film Festival.
Facelift or rhytidectomy in Japan or in many other countries is an operation performed on a patient to rejuvenate his or her aging face. The operation depends on the patient’s age, and the extent of expected rejuvenation, and the features or areas of the face. Facelift can be performed on the any of the three areas of the face which are the upper, middle and lower areas, or in combination of these areas.
The upper facelift procedure is designed ...
... to lift sagging eyebrows and renew the appearance around the eyes. This is done by carefully lifting the skin from the bone and retracing it all the way to the eyebrows, using a special instrument and sutures or stitches to tighten the skin. The mid-facelift procedure is done by incising the hairline and the inner part of the mouth to lift the skin and underlying tissue from the bone with the use of a specially designed surgical instrument. In the procedure, the cheeks are pulled up and suspended with internal stitches to hold the tissue in place as the tissue heals and re-attaches to the skin and bone in the new location. The lower facelift procedure has the incisions made around the ear to lift the skin and retract it and tighten the underlying tissue with internal stitches. After the incisions, the skin is closed with sutures or staples in the incisions around the hairline. The patient may then be placed in a compression garment to help in the recovery process.
The Japanese facelift operation usually lasts from three to seven hours or longer if some additional procedures are done. Cuts or incisions and their extent are done in accordance with the facial structures and the needed corrections. Cuts usually begin from the forehead to the front of the ear and behind the ear lobe, which is the lower part of the external ear. Another cut may be made below the chin for the repair of the neck. With the procedure, the surgeon usually separates the skin from the fat, takes away the excess fat and makes the muscles stronger as the fat pockets are returned to the original locations. The bandages are then removed after 24 hours although the face will look swollen with red spots which will disappear in a number of days or weeks.
Complementing the Japanese facelift operation is the Japanese facelift massage by the Shiatsu School that offers benefits to patients such as improved sagging skin and wrinkles, cleared sinuses and relief of allergies, improved overall health, relief of tension that has built on the face, and effective way to address more difficult conditions such as headaches and disorders in the temporomandibular joint or the joint of the jaw.
