A good set of cutlery will see you through years on end. An extraordinary set of cutlery will see you through generations. Be it silverware or general cutlery, it's one of the most crucial aspects of household, because everybody eats and what makes the experience all the better has to be the tools. Think about it. Your meal won't taste quite as good when your tongue can feel uneven spots on your spoon or your fork looks dull, stained and crooked. Maintain a well-cared set of cutlery and you can be sure that you won't have to assign your budget towards a new set.

You might consider preserving cutlery to be as easy as washing them up, but you are solely mistaken, because that can't be any farther from the truth. Clean doesn't begin to exhaust the ways you should preserve your cutlery against wear and time. I will start with the obvious elements and then gradually expand on the expert tips for true devotees, especially, if you find your cutlery to be pretty enough to preserve. Trust me, the aesthetics play an important role, when it comes to motivation. Let's take a look at what you have in your arsenal.

Wash-up

Improve ...
... your cleaning technique with the following tips. Know that you should never leave dirty cutlery to sit and dry, because in most cases, they are fine objects with hard to reach spots and curves that attract food particles, sauce and grease, which later pose a challenge. What people do in case this happens is to grab a metal scourer and force the dirt out. While you get the desired results, you will find that metal scourers leave scratches, which can't be softened. A much healthier option is to soak cutlery in hot water right after you have finished a meal. The hot water will break down the food particles and allow an easy and effortless wash without any damages to the surface.

Dry storage

If you want to go the extra mile, then you should adopt the skill of domestic cleaners Eltham and learn to dry cutlery after washing and before storing them. As a cheat to skip this step, I use cutlery with a vertical stand so that I can hang each piece and allow it to drip dry. Spoons will still collect small drops, which dry in ugly blotches, hence why you need to towel dry most of the time. Metals tend to tarnish when exposed to water, hence why I have a small rug for cutlery on the side and preserve. No dampness means no blotches, no risks of rust.

Polish

Preventive measures include one final step, which might seem pointless, but does wonders for dis-used cutlery stored out of sight and out of mind. A special microfibre towel should clean your cutlery off dust and return their shine. This saves you from the awkward situation of welcoming sudden guests with dusty to the touch cutlery. Two birds with one stones sure tastes as sweet, when you experience it in real life.

Implement this advice and you will be quite fine for the days to happen.
