A Writer’s Need
Confidence level of a writer is highly essential to produce a good work. If a writer is not confident about his/her ideas, and lacks the ability to effectively express them, then their motivation for writing will suffer and they may experience writer's block, driven by anxiety. Now and then, we do write various formal and informal texts due to one or another reason. But this pressure is no substitute for confidence-inspired motivation. Some writers say that they work best under pressure, but usually these kinds of writing are of the poorest quality.
A writer must feel confident about his writing. He must try to make it as appealing as possible to the readers. He must realize that others might be benefited from reading what he has written. Thus, it becomes very important to organize the time more effectively, prepare a rough outline, and write in a more confident manner. “Practice makes perfect” a very common yet true fact. Although, regular practicing might not make writing perfect, it can surely improve the writing skills of a writer, if he examines his writing from a critical perspective.
Ideas also play ...
... a very significant role in a writer’s need. The most basic quality of producing a good work is the interest in the topic itself. The writer must find the topic interesting enough to write about it, do some brainstorming and play around with ideas related to that topic, ask as many questions about it as possible, and then answer these questions themselves. Another way to generate these ideas is through research. This may involve writing up research already conducted or looking for information in the library, via Internet, etc. and finding useful materials written by authorities/experts in the target subject area. More information means more ideas for discussion.
The writer should look for his material anywhere and everywhere. Along with reading the obvious sources and interviewing the obvious people, he must also look at signs, billboards, junks written along the roadside, labels on packages, instructions on toys, claims on medicines, and graffiti on walls. In other words, a writer should not confine his research to the usual sources, but should extend his research outside the box, being open to material from unlikely sources.
As far as possible, a writer should always select a topic that interests him. In doing so, the topic of research becomes a subject of pleasure and curiosity rather than a chore. However, in certain cases, when we have to write about some topic in which we are not interested in, we must write about a subject of interest and importance to our colleagues, editors of journals, or administrators in institution. Even though the topic of the report or document might not be amusing, make sure that your writing is as informative, accurate, and polished as possible, since this will reflect positively on you.
