... forts and palaces in the state but it draws enormous attention from all the people who desire to be familiar with how the rulers protected their area from the foreign armies and also about how these rulers expanded their military advantage. Different from the other forts in Rajasthan, the Jaigarh Fort leaves no feeling that it is a fort, through its embroidered interiors and exteriors, impresses its tourists. Rather, it is a fort that straightaway coveys the fact that it was built in order to toughen the defense of Amer, that was under the rule of Maharaja Sawai Raja Jai Singh. The architecture style of the Jaigarh Fort is quite similar to the Indo- Persian Style and the fort is plastered along with the lime mortar.
Jaigarh fort is located 15 kms outside the Jaipur city and stands on a hill top known as Cheel ka Teela or hill of eagles. It overlooks the famous Maota Lake and the Amber Fort. The Jaigarh Fort is popularly known as the Victory Fort and its resemblance is quite similar to the Amber Fort. It also consists of the largest cannon of the world, named as the Javiana and is also known as the cannon on wheels. It is said that the cannon is the largest of its kind in the world. Since the fort was built in order to provide strength to Amer's defense. In order to further increase this strength, there is a system of underground water in the fort that provided ample water supply during the time of war. Also, it is said that beneath the tank, the kings and the queens stored their precious items of gold and silver. The structure is also surrounded by the thick walls of red stone which was used for the construction of the fort.
There is a well maintained garden and a museum within the complex. The museum contains the armory and the souvenirs of the past era that are displayed to be seen by the visitors. There are also a number of other beautiful attractions like palaces, cannon foundry, granary, temple and reservoir having bastions, watch towers and wide walls.
Towards the bottom of this hill, Amber fort is located. Amber Fort is on a Hilltop at the outskirts of Jaipur, construction of which was started by Raja Mansingh in the 16th centaury and completed by Sawai Jai Singh in the 18th Centuary and the Fort gives a magnificent view of the entire surrounding areas. It is said that the two forts together form a part of one single complex which are well connected with complex watched over passages. Although, both the structures are connected by a passage, but it is believed that earlier they were a part of one complex building only.
