Sheds are simple structures that are easily constructed and mostly placed outside the house in the backyards or the lawns. They are used for storage purposes mostly but at times they also play the roles of workshops or personal hideouts. Sheds can be built by anyone single handedly so they vary in design and construction according to their needs and interests. These are small domestic sheds that are kept in houses for storage or workshop purposes. Garden equipment or tools are mostly kept in the single storey structure that resembles the outlook or color of the house. Larger domestic sheds are also available that are larger in size and made of different materials. They are, because of these features, expensive too. They can be constructed of materials that can be wood, steel, metal, vinyl or plastic. Farm sheds are also a kind of sheds that are in commercial as well as domestic use. Farm sheds are wide in area and cover a greater part of the plot. They come under the category of agricultural sheds. Farm sheds are used by farmers or agriculturalists for storing farm equipment and vehicles or tools used on farms. Horses, cattle ...
... or farm animals can also be kept in farm sheds. Farm sheds are often used to keep horses or sheep. Farm sheds can be built by builders or they can be bought from a building company that meets your requirements. Farmers often build their own farm sheds but the ones that own larger farms can buy readymade farm sheds for use. Good farm sheds have cooling systems and electric supplies installed in them.
Sheds and garages are built outside the house but are connected to it. Garages are used for parking vehicles. Residential garages mostly have the storage capacity of storing 2 to 3 cars. Garages have a large door at one side. They are built of metal or wood and have a separate electric supply in them. Automatic doors are widely used for garages. Tools, bicycles or lawn mowers are also at times, kept in the garage.
Carports are the advanced forms of garages. They are covered structures in front of the garages that provide protection to the cars or vehicles. Carports are sold commonly in markets and one may modify it accordingly to match the house exterior. Carports may be standalone with pillars supporting them or they may be attached to a wall with the garage or otherwise. Carports usually have two walls. They are open so they allow more ventilation but less protection than garages. It is just like a shelter for a car. In modern times carports are made of steel, aluminum or tin.
