So on garbage day you may have a couple pieces of garbage flying randomly around your house, which may or may not belong to you.

If you live outside of the city trash collection area you have two main options. Hiring a local private trash collection agency or taking the trash to the transfer station yourself. Opting to take your own trash to the transfer station will save you money. House hold garbage is taken for free and other items such as tires are taken for a small fee. The con of taking your own garbage is the actual act of taking it. The transfer station is on the outskirts of town and smells absolutely putrid. If you’re in a pinch for money though, it might be a great option for you. Just wear a nose plug!

Hiring a private company in this situation would be the way I would go. There are several private companies that specialize in garbage collection in Idaho Falls. Like the city, the company will assign you to a specific day of the week for collection. Unlike the city, these companies tend to collect on your specific day even if there were to be a holiday during the week. Most companies also offer bill pay on the internet or still accept snail mail. My favorite thing about a private company is the service they provide to their customers. I’ve seen a trash can spill containing dog poo in it and watched as the driver hopped out of his truck and cleaned it all up. I call that dedication.

Wherever you live in the area, you can know that without a doubt you have options when it comes to garbage collection. Some are more desirable than others, but all have many pros to them.
