The Media industry in India is a vibrant institution that has enormous power to shape public opinion and create societal awakening. It plays a crucial role in channelising information to the audience so that they make informed decisions. According to reports, the entertainment and media industry in India is on a high growth trajectory and is set to touch Rs 1.75 lakh crore by 2016, on the back of continued growth in advertising and consumer spends. It is one of the fastest growing industries and has been identified as a lucrative destination for FDI. The potential game-changers for the media industry in India would be increasing advertising and consumer spends.

Advertising is a form of communication used to promote a product or service to the customer. It can be done through various mediums like print, TV, radio and online to create a brand recall and engagement in the minds of the consumer. Advertising through newspaper allows a brand to reach a huge number of people in a given geographic area. However, with the increased penetration of the internet, newspapers are losing their readership and as a result advertisers are more attracted towards other mediums rather than advertising in a newspaper.

However, there has been a birth of a lot of advertising agencies, which have helped in designing the best communication strategies. They have managed to corner some of the best brands and created effective campaigns that have created history. The Marketing and advertising agency are the ones who craft campaigns for the clients in the most engaging manner possible and sometimes add spice even to the most boring brands. The industry has seen a lot of independent advertising agencies coming up and the next step of evolution will see these agencies strive towards differentiation and create value for clients.
