ESL tests are generally used in order to gauge or check the abilities of English speakers who are not native. ESL testing comprises of four parts so that four different abilities can be checked. These parts are:

1. Listening
2. Reading
3. Grammar/Usage
4. Essay

By conducting this test, the teachers/examiner analyzes the competency of the student and based on the test results they placed the student in different courses, as per their need. Those students who are taking homework help for the preparation of ESL test can easily understand the entire process and layout of the test.

The first part in ESL testing is listening. By this test student’s ability to comprehend Standard American English is assessed. This tasks increases difficulty transversely for multiple levels of proficiency with speech rate, vocabulary, diction, as well as idiomatic use and figurative language it all increases at higher level. In this situation students are permitted to jot down important points/ notes which they all are capable of doing during their lectures. The test is indented to determine listening ...
... skills they are not interested to know about the student’s short-term memory. Dialogues in listening audios are designed in such a way that gives an impression of real conversation.

The second part of the test assesses the ability of a student with respect to reorganization and to use standard American English within two main categories i.e. referring (explicitly reading stated material) and reasoning (inferential reading). This area’s content varies heavily with the level of proficiency; emphasizing more on referring at lower/initial level and at higher level reasoning is emphasized more. Student taking homework help in order to clear the test are given the same layout and pattern as provided in the real exam. The material includes reading passages but it also varies in length that is they are short at basic stage but it eventually gets larger at the final or expert stage.

At times students are provided images or pictures, charts, graphs, tables and asked to interpret the given material. However, maps along with some other diagram are also provided and asked them to follow the given directions. Third part of ESL testing is grammar or usage which also comprises of two parts; first is sentence elements and the other one is sentence structure and syntax. In Sentence Elements verbs, modifiers, subjects, objects, conventions (punctuation, spelling, and capitalization), word formation and function words are included. On the other hand, in sentence structure and syntax word order, connection among and between clauses as well as agreements are included. It also checks how grammar relays to communication further than sentence level.

Last part of ESL Testing consists of Essay writing. In this part the examiner check whether the use of language is appropriate, is the student focused towards the topic and is the entire content of the essay making sense and is organized properly. After that the entire test is completed it is reviewed thoroughly by the examiner and then the score will determine the program level for which the student have qualified for.
