In the field of Maintenance Aero Engineers Jobs are typically involved in the general delivery or management of continuing airworthiness. The Aircraft Engineer is tasked with ensuring that the aircraft remains fully compliant with all Airworthiness Directives (AD’s) and that all Service Bulletins (SB’s) are accessed for suitability.
In the role of Aero Engineers working with an airline or Maintenance Repair Organization MRO the function typically supports either the Continuing Airworthiness Management Organization CAMO or the Maintenance Planning department or sometimes both.
Aero Engineers typically have an Aeronautical Engineering degree or Aircraft Maintenance Engineers Licence (AMEL) and have several years applicable experience.
A broad experience across a range of subjects will typically stand the Engineer in good stead later in their career.
Aero Engineers typically are well thought of in the industry and receive a good salary. Depending on the size and nature of the organization Aero Engineers may specialize in one or more areas. For example, Aircraft or Engine Systems or Aircraft Structures, Avionic Systems, or even by ATA chapter in larger organisations.
The career path of Aero Engineers may lead to a senior Technical Services position or to Technical Services Management with the possibility of the Aero Engineer becoming a Continuing Airworthiness Manager Continuing Airworthiness Manager with overall responsibility for the Continuing Airworthiness of a fleet of aircraft.
