Haryana is one of the wealthiest states in India. Over the past few decades, Haryana has grown to be an Industry-oriented state that contributes heavily to the country's economy.

About Haryana
Chandigarh is the capital of Haryana and the most widely spoken language here is Haryanvi. Haryana is believed to be located in a place where the Indus Valley civilization thrived.


Where is Haryana

Haryana is a landlocked state in Northern India. It shares borders with Himachal Pradesh and Punjab to the North, Rajasthan to the west and south, and River Yamuna marks the northern border of the state and separates it from Uttar Pradesh and Uttaranchal. Haryana is believed to be located in the Kuru region. Kurukshetra, the battleground for the epic war in Mahabharata, is believed to be in this state. Apart from that, the battles of Panipat were also fought around this region.


Major Cities
Ambala, Gurgaon, Hisar, Kurukshetra, Samalkha, Panchkula, ...
... Faridabad, Rohtak and Panipat are some of the industrial cities in Haryana. Ambala produces scientific equipment and glass instruments that can be used in Laboratories. Panipat produces traditional handlooms in the industries set up here. Gurgaon, a satellite city, is the financial and industrial mainstay in Haryana. Faridabad is rapidly becoming the hub for small and medium level IT-related establishments.


Places to Visit
Ranging from ecotourism to pilgrim tourism, Haryana has a lot to offer to those who are looking for an interesting vacation.
Jyotisar, the site where Krishna is believed to have delivered Bhagavad Gita, is a famous pilgrim site in Kurukshetra district. Panchkula, Pehowa and Thanesar are other prominent places for Hindu pilgrims.


Ecotourists have plenty of options to spend their holidays here. The Seonsar forest is the home to Coppersmith Barbers, RufousTreepies, The Indian Grey Hornbills, Greater Coucals and other wild animals like Wild Boars, Neelgai, Langurs and Geedar. The Saraswati Wildlife Sanctuary is also inside the Seonsar forest. Over a 100 species of birds can be found in the Sultanpur Bird Sanctuary.


Ibrahim Lodhi's tomb, Karna Lake, Badkhal Lake and Yadavindra Gardens are other prominent places in Haryana. Golf tourism has been gaining prominence here. There are two golf courses here: Aravalli Golf Course and Highway Golf Course. Adventure tourists have activities such as river rafting, kayaking, rappelling and boat cruises to keep them occupied.


How To Reach

Air: Chandigarh Airport plies regular flights to major cities in India. However, in case of international travel, Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi is the preferred airport due to its proximity from Haryana.


Rail: The Chandigarh Railway station is an important junction and there are regular trains plying to various cities inside the country.
Road: There are 29 national highways and numerous state highways that link Haryana to all the states nearby. Grand Trunk Road, one of the oldest roads in the world, pass through Haryana. Expressways are now being constructed to connect all major cities in Haryana with the NCR.
