Most of us know that arkitekter are responsible for designing and constructing all types of buildings, from individual landed homes to apartment blocks and towering skyscrapers. While this is true, architects do much more than just the design and construction. Besides the basic arkitektur aspect, arkitekter are also responsible for evaluating the entire development project and determining whether or not that particular construction will be compatible with the local environment. Houses and buildings that are build in different climatic conditions and environs have different compatibility factors. For example houses built in the desert need to meet different requirement from those build in the tropics or those build in the temperate zones.

This does not mean it can be done by just anybody though. It still needs a qualified architect to feed in the proper information and work the software to obtain the resultant construction.

Architects also perform a host of assorted job functions that are related to construction. They select and approve the site for the construction. Once the site has been selected and approved, they acquire the necessary building permits from the appropriate authorities. After the proper approval has been acquired and all other formalities are done, they then get down to the designing and planning.

An arkitekt will first make a draft and then proceed to make a scaled drawing of the entire project. If and when necessary, they will also create a three-dimensional model of the project. After this is done, other related professionals will be consulted to determine the feasibility of the draft, design and the entire project. Once everything has been approved, the architect will then hire contractors or construction workers who will work under the architect’s direct supervision. Throughout the duration of the entire project, the architect will supervise and check stages of the project to ensure that they meet all town planning specifications as well as all quality and design specifications. If there are any unexpected problems that may occur during the building construction, the client is responsible for resolving the issues as soon as possible.

There are different stages to the entire architectural process. The first stage is the conceptual design stage wherein the architect creates sketches or drafts of the entire project. After this is approved and finalized, the next stage is the construction drawing, which includes the completed drawing of the initial drafts. Sometimes a three-dimensional model is required, especially for larger commercial projects. This is so that potential buyers can see a realistic model of the what the finished construction is going to look like.
