Delhi, officially known as the National Capital Territory (NCT) includes New Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) urban area. NCR is the collective name given to places like Gurgaon, Noida, Greater Noida, Faridabad and Ghaziabad.


About Delhi

Delhi is the largest metropolis in India and is believed to have been the site where Indraprastha, the capital city of the Pandavas regime, was located. New Delhi, the capital city of India, has been the center of power since 1911.


Where is Delhi

Located on the western banks of the River Yamuna, the largest tributary of the Ganges, Delhi is surrounded by Uttar Pradesh to the east and Haryana in the other three sides.

A heavy influence of the Mughals can be felt in the structures built in and around Delhi.


The Red Fort, Jama Masjid, Akshardham Temple, Gurdwara Bangla Sahib and Lotus Temple are must-see places in Delhi.Akshardham Temple is the largest Hindu temple in the world, and it was built in 2005. PuranaQuila gives an idea about the military architecture during Mughal days. India Gate, Rajpath, Sansad Bhavan and Rashtrapathi Bhavan are political buildings or structures with historical prominence.


Commercial areas in Delhi include ChandniChowk, Connaught Place and Mangal Bazaar.


How To Reach

Air: The Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi serves as the centralized gateway for both national and international civilian commute. It is the largest airport in India and the busiest in South Asia.


Rail: Northern Railways, which is headquartered in Delhi, serves five zones and there are trains plying to and from all parts of the country. There are luxury trains like Rajdhani Express that ply from major cities like Chennai, Mumbai, Bangalore to Delhi.
Road: Delhi is well connected with three expressways and three more coming up. This will connect Delhi with its suburbs like Noida, Greater Noida and Gurgaon.


Commute within Delhi: Delhi is well connected with Metro Rail plying between all major cities. Auto Rickshaws are cheaper as they run on CNG. Apart from this, Delhi is well connected by buses that are run by state owned Delhi Transport Corporation
