The role of a college is always important for good performance at A-level. If more students in London prefer independent sixth form colleges, there are certain reasons for that. Read on to know what advantages these colleges bring for the students.

Students in the UK know it is their performance at A-level that paves the way for their future. If they fall short, they will find it hard to get admission into the universities of their choice. For this very reason, any serious student will work hard to score well at A-levels

Students also recognise it is just not possible for them to perform without the proper support of the college. This is the reason most students prefer to get enrolled in an independent sixth form college. This is not to say that state-run sixth form colleges are not at par. There are several outstanding state colleges, but you can’t deny that the average points score at the top private sixth form colleges in London is often high. Students get impressed by their results and look forward to getting into one of these colleges so that they could earn enough points at A-level to carve out for themselves ...
... a bright future.

Independent colleges usually have less red tape than their state counterparts, so they can spend more time on revision and exam preparation, which is a crucial aspect of doing well in an exam, A-level or another. Class size is also small in these colleges so teachers can give enough attention to the students. It is hard for weaker students to hide or get lost in the pack.

The student community in independent sixth form colleges is smaller as well, contrary to state colleges that may have thousands of students. Most students prefer it as they feel less pressured and enjoy informality of relationships with teachers.

The environment of these colleges is conducive to study. Even those who are irregular students get used to a rigorous study schedule. Environment does play a role in improving their focus on studies, which becomes evident from their performance.

There are of course other factors that influence the choice of colleges. There is the cost, which is quite higher than the state-run schools. For some parents, the cost may certainly be prohibitive. Some may be hesitant to send their child to a college where the environment may be totally different from the place they are coming from.

However, if you consider the value a well-earned A-level degree adds to a resume, these factors are negligible. If the parents are sure about their son’s or daughter’s career, they won’t mind spending a bit more money. As for the environment, it is a welcome change for a bright future.

Independent sixth form colleges are usually a better bet for good A-level performance. Of course the students’ own efforts are always there and that can make the difference any time, however having said that, you cannot negate the importance of college as well.

What you need to do is to do a bit of research and find some A-level colleges of repute in London. Compare what these colleges have to offer and take a decision that you think will keep you in good stead in the job market.

The author of this recommends Lansdowne College, regarded among the top colleges in London. They provide the students with the right environment and support for their A-level.
