Your Experience With Windamere – Darjeeling
So how was this Christmas for you all? You must have enjoyed the parties, the roasted turkeys and the red wine! Well, this Christmas was very special for me as well. Because I was on my much dreamt of vacation to Darjeeling and what I must share with you is the place where I stayed. Trust me guys, Windamere hotel in Darjeeling , which is one of the few colonial hotels of India, made my holiday so special! Well, let me help you with the stories of Windamere; I mean my experience of staying at Windamere, Darjeeling – take a quick look; you might find a perfect destination to stay at!
Well the facts I could gather about the hotel Windamere are somewhat like this: established in the year of 1930s, the Hotel was constructed on the Observatory Hill in Darjeeling by the British government, the ruling power in then India. Though the British went off, they left behind this elegant structure and fortunately enough all its intricate décors and sculptures are kept intact over all these years. Trust me, the moment you step in, you get the pure British charm and essence from each and ...
... every corner of the hotel. Though initially it was a home to the Scottish tea planters and British bachelors, just before the Second World War, this was turned into a hotel by Mr. Tenduf-La, named “Windamere”.
Now, to tell you about my experience during the staying at Windamere, it is really worth of the money that you need to fork out. If you are looking for a shelter away from the hustle and bastle of the city, then Windamere is going to be the perfect choice for you. The awe inspiring design, the breathtaking scenario and the 46 rooms, including standard rooms, superior rooms, and colonial suites – all is enough to mesmerize you. To add a dash of richness to the beauty of the hotel, the garden area, dining area, and the Sunny Side patio are constructed and maintained with utmost ease.
The exotic Villa, a special wing of the Windamere Hotel, attempts to take the guests to the old school Darjeeling. The guests are treated just like the British Kings and Queens of ancient Darjeeling. You know what; life seems to be really interesting without the daily gadgets – the absence of any television sets, telephones and other facilities that we are habituated to in our everyday life. So if you are opting for an escape from the hectic city life, this is probably the ideal place to halt at. The Snuggery wing, however, lets the visitors indulge in the days of the past as well as remain in touch with modern life. Basic necessities like television sets and telephones are provided if requested by the guests.
So be ready to enjoy the charm of the Windamere hotel and enjoy a winter vacation, to be remembered for the rest of your life.
