Time Magazine is one of the many print news magazines on the market. They have a variety of articles posted on their website that range from hurricane preparations to the terrorist suspects recently arrested in London.

News magazines are usually published weekly and feature a variety of articles. Current events figure prominently in news magazines and are usually treated more comprehensibly than in a newspaper.

Television has its version of news magazines that is similar to the print version. They present short television documentaries to educate about various topics. Television news magazines were started by CBS when they first aired 60 Minutes.

Radio's version of news magazines include All Things Considered which airs daily on NPR and the BBC's BBC Newshour. Unlike radio newscasts, which are typically about five minutes long, radio news magazines can run from 30 minutes up to three hours or more.

There are news magazines in a lot of different countries. Der Spiegel is one of the news magazines from Germany and Frontline is one of the news magazines from India.

The US News ...
... & World Report is one of the news magazines in the United States. They publish an extremely well-known and controversial list every year that includes college and university rankings.

The New Republic is grouped with other news magazines, but it is really an American journal of opinion that is published weekly. The New Republic enjoys a circulation of between 40,000 and 65,000. This is not really one of the better news magazines on the market as it doesn't really have news, it has political opinions from the corporate Democrat point of view.

Ethics In News Articles

It is generally accepted that journalist follow certain ethical standards when writing news articles. News articles are supposed to use original sources of information. This includes interviews with people directly involved with a story, original documents and other direct sources of information, whenever possible.

Journalists should use multiple original sources of information. News articles that are especially controversial really need to have more than one source.

Before news articles are published, every fact reported should be checked. It is embarassing to a publication to have to make corrections after publication of news articles because of readily available, unchecked information.

Journalists are charged with an important task when writing news articles. They are supposed to find and report every side of a story possible. This happens less and less in the mainstream media in America.

News articles should reflect reporting without bias, meaning they don't give any side of the story any more emphasis or credance than any others. This is not the way that the major papers in the United States handle news articles, though. You can pick up any paper in the United States and read the Republican party line.

Very few jounalists approach researching and reporting news articles with a balance between openmindedness and skepticism even though it is their ethical obligation. In my experience, all of the news articles I have read in the last year are clearly supporting their original position.

It is unfortunate the the American media no longer uses careful judgment when organizing and reporting information. The fear hysteria that permeated the American psyche was recharged and spurred on by news articles that whipped American citizens into a bloodthirsty frenzy.

Journalists like Ann Coulter are ones that report on subjects in which she has a personal interest or bias that cannot be set aside. News articles from her should be dismissed out of hand.
