The first appearance of industrial building was after the industrial revolution when there was a need of large buildings to room for machineries and workers. The first building for industries was built in the year 1771 and was made of stones and bricks and wooden roof and was rectangular in structure. During that period the designing was not advanced as it is today. Their building had long un-plastered walls and were decorated with ornamental masonries. Various architectural styles such as classicists’ motifs were also utilized for designing the exteriors of the buildings. This pattern continued till the first of the 19th century. But many architects continued this designing structure till the beginning of the 20th century.

Then, pre-engineered buildings which are a building made of steel; are built over the concept of primary and secondary members. The members of the structure are designed in a way to make it as light as possible in weight without affecting the strength of the structure. Today all the industrial buildings are made of steel. Steel has become the most prior choice of the architectures as they are the ...
... most durable, adaptable and flexible. Pre-engineered buildings also known as PEB believes in constructing the buildings incorporating built up rather than using hot rolled selection used conventionally. Steel buildings get fitted with any kind of structural additions such as mezzanine floors, several trusses, variable canopies, myriad fascia and crane system.

PEB is ideal to build industrial buildings with wide span and low rising structures. PEB costs are low as compared to others. Its consistency, qualities is also better as compared to the use of brick structures in constructing a building. PEB are used to make warehouses, factories, shopping malls, hospitals, schools, community house and many more. The manufacturers ensure to provide better quality products for every deal they make; thus resulting a structure with durability and long life. The PEB consists of 4 components which are structural system, cladding, secondary system and accessories.

The structural system is the primary thing in construction. It bears the whole weight of the building and also supports the machineries and members residing in the industrial building. The size and shape of the structural system vary on the basis of requirements and demands of the buildings. Cladding is done by dipping the steel in hot galvanized zinc or aluminium. Then it is treated with a series of tests to make sure its cleanliness.

Claddings are used to make the walls and the roof. They are available both insulated and non-insulated. Secondary members are used to carry the loads and ensure the stability of the industrial buildings to sustain against any kind of force. The secondary members are girts, purlins, eave, cable, strut etc. in addition to the building structure some accessories are also required to design the industrial buildings. Some of the accessories are walking doors, sliding doors, insulation, aluminium, louvers, power ventilators, fasteners, wall lights and sky lights, roof jacks and curbs and ridge ventilators. Thus pre-engineered buildings are the best way to build an industrial building in the most effective way in all respects.
