Changing your fuel rail system can help you improve your car’s fuel efficiency. The direct injection system has evolved over the years and improvements have been made to ensure that more power and efficiency are realized with modern car engines.

Fuel Rail and Efficiency

To understand the importance of the direct injection system and the issues associated with an upgrade fuelrail, we need to go back to how the system works. Generally the direct injection system is different from the other types of systems in that fuel is ‘injected’ into the engine as opposed to being sucked in by the carburetor.
An electronic system is used to determine the amount of fuel to oxygen ratio that is optimal for the combustion. The electronic system has the advantage of having the capability to determine the exact ratio depending on the speed and the demands of the engine at any one time. Because burning of the fuel is much more efficient, the emissions from the engine are significantly reduced and this also means fuel is saved. Railing systems on these cars are different from your average carburetor cars.

Take ...
... Caution

Changing the fuel rail fittings can help improve the efficiency of the car. However, caution must be taken to avoid making mistakes that could cost you and damage your car. If the railing system is not of top quality or it malfunctions, it will not perform its purpose to the level it is supposed to.
Also make sure that when you are installing the new system onto your car, you follow instructions and ensure you handle it with utmost care. If you fail to handle the fuel rail adapter with caution and install it properly it may get clogged and it will not perform its desired function.

Ethanol and Older Railings

If you want to add a new fuel rail adapter, you need to ensure that you get one that is compatible with ethanol content. Since they started adding ethanol to gasoline, some manufacturers realized that they needed to upgrade that system into one that can handle ethanol better. The main issue with ethanol and older railings, is they are more susceptible to electrolysis than gasoline. This can affect the efficiency of the car’s engine.
Choosing the right fuel rail fittings is important to avoid disappointment. You may have to go for an after market railing in order to find the right railing for your car. The effort is certainly worthwhile since you’ll save on fuel and money.
