Proper Maintenance Of Industrial Machines
Nowadays, it is almost impossible to even imagine our lives without the blessing of what we know as technology. Every waking moment and even the ones during which we are sound asleep in our beds, we are safely cocooned by the many gadgets and automations that technology has bestowed us with. When we think about the exact moment that saw us becoming so dependent on it, we realize that it was at the very moment that man created fire by rubbing two stones together. From then on technology has worked incessantly towards making human life easier, more convenient and more comfortable. It was this advancement in science that has dragged us out from caves and propelled us towards the skies. Even though not everything is as complicated as rocket science, the contribution of technology can in no way be undermined, especially when various industrial sectors are taken into account.
From medicine to mining, from food to fashion, from agriculture to manufacturing, from construction to entertainment – every industrial sector is now benefitting from the latest automations. However, the easy availaibi8lity and wide application ...
... of these machines have, to a certain extent, made us careless. Only a portion of all the people who make use of these machines are aware of the fact that even these things can malfunction resulting in huge losses due to downtime. Negligence to do maintenance work properly can even result in unfortunate accidents. Industrial maintenance is no child’s play. It, in its most basic form can be divided into five distinct categories, which are: general knowledge, mechanical knowledge, electrical knowledge, welding knowledge, and preventative maintenance. The general knowledge required for this job includes a complete understanding of tools and blueprints in order to ensure safety. It also requires presence of mind to handle emergencies and a high capability to solve problems in the shortest period of time possible. Usually engineers and technicians are well equipped to handle this job. One has to be careful when they are using machines like lobe pumps and hose pumps.
The helical rotor pumps are also used widely nowadays in many industries. The design of these machines includes a rotor shaped like an elongated corkscrew. It turns inside a stator. The said rotor is situated inside the stator void and a cavity is formed between the rotor and stator. The rotor turns, making the cavity move around from one end of the pump to the other. These are considered to be the most hygienic of pumps as the all the inner surfaces are utterly smooth and thus do not allow bacteria to easily adhere there. They are of the non-shearing type and are capable of transporting a wide range of products. This signifies that the action of the machine does not chop up the material that is being pumped through it. This feature is particularly useful for the food and beverage industry, where the material cannot be allowed to get beaten up violently. Neither do these machines require priming and can keep discharging at a constant pressure.
