Delhi To Pune – From The Capital City Of India To The Cultural Capital Of Maharashtra
A well developed and populated metropolitan city, Delhi is situated on the banks of River Yamuna in the Northern part of India and is the capital city of the country. Delhi is considered to be the seat of power right from the mythological era till present day and so politically an important place. Delhi is full of tombs, forts, monuments, ramparts and ruins which are tourists delight. Located on the western part of Deccan plateau among the Western Ghats, the hilly city of Pune is the largest city in Maharashtra. There are many daily direct flights from Delhi to Pune which take around 2 hours to reach. The air fares depend a lot on the class of travel and the requirements of the airliners and they also have full right to change the fares anytime. It would be good to check flight schedule with lowest airfares while booking online tickets.
Travelling by train is another option especially for elderly people and families with children and also for budget reasons. Hazrat Nizamuddin Kolhapur Express (12148), Jhelum Express (11078), Goa Express (12780), Hazrat Nizamuddin Pune Duranto Express (12264) and a few more trains ply directly from Delhi to Pune. The time taken for train journey will be 20 to 25 hours on an average.
There are few private buses running from Delhi to Pune which offer options like A/C Coach, Semi Sleeper Coach, Sleeper Coach and Volvo at reasonable rates. The distance from Delhi to Pune is 1466 kilometres and this could be covered in 20 hours approximately. Private cars if needed can be rented, however it may prove expensive. One can go by own vehicle if keen on driving for long distances. The best route from Delhi would be via Jaipur-Kishangarh-Chittorgarh-Udaipur-Himmatnagar-Ahmedabad -Vadodara-Surat-Vapi-Thane-New Bombay-Kalamboli to reach Pune. The roads are outstanding and one can reach Pune the same day or can plan for a night stay at any of the major towns in between. There are good facilities throughout the way like petrol pumps, hotels, dhaabas, puncture shops, etc. Regent Continental Delhi and Klastar Inn Pune are available to taste Maharashraian food.
