What Are Garage Doors Made Of In Fontana?
Most people probably don’t think very much about their garage door, except perhaps when it’s giving them a bit of trouble. It’s unlikely that anyone really sits around and daydreams about garage doors, simply because they are commonplace and not especially interesting to think about. But, there may be one reason to think good and hard about garage doors, and that is when you need to have one either replaced or installed. You may wonder what sort to get and what materials are used to make it. So, here’s a short education in just what most garage doors are made of.
Wood is a common material for the construction of garage doors. They can range from being very simple to being very elaborate, and pretty much anything in between. A simple, plain wooden door is generally very inexpensive, however, it may not have a very long lifespan. An example of a much more expensive wooden door is something made of a fine wood, such as mahogany, that can be carved or paneled in very fancy ways. The biggest drawback to having wooden garage doors is that they require frequent routine maintenance, which can be even more extensive ...

Another very common material for garage doors is steel. Steel is sometimes preferred because while it is still cheap, it is more durable than wood and requires less maintenance. It does have drawbacks in that it can dent and rust easily. However, you can also get higher end steel garage doors that are coated with fiberglass that can work to prevent both of these issues. So, just like wood doors, steel doors are available in both very basic, inexpensive types, as well as more pricy higher quality types.
Garage doors can also be purchased in aluminum. While inexpensive versions can still be purchased, they are largely one of the most expensive of garage doors, costing sometimes close to ten thousand dollars. These are often very sturdy and resist things like dents and are rust-proof. They are also lightweight in general, making them very easy to open and close if they are manual doors. So while a very good choice, in some cases they may be cost-prohibitive for some.
Garage doors can also be found in fiberglass or vinyl. Fiberglass is good as it does not rust and can be reasonably dent-proof, but it is also possible that it will break if struck by your vehicle. Vinyl is durable and difficult to damage. You may find that it has fewer color options available, but it also requires much less maintenance than any other door type and can be easily cleaning by simply hosing it down once in a while or as needed.
