Throw a stone, and you are likely to hit a Foodie in Delhi. Well, don't try doing that literally. You might have to face consequences (like gaalis you won't know the meaning off and might also get beaten up). Delhi being the capital of India is also one of the favourite tourist destinations. Apart from the rich history and culture, what amazes the tourists about Delhi is the food. Food is a way to celebrate and the people never run out of reasons to celebrate in Delhi. In a Delhite's language, 'people share food to build bonds with each other'. Most of the foreign tourists are used to the covered and hygienic food and are likely to fall victim of what is also now a title of a Bollywood film - Delhi Belly. So, if you take Delhi Belly seriously, then stick to the high-end restaurants.

You can easily find good restaurants serving every type of cuisine. So, if it has been a very long vacation and you are missing your own country cuisine, just ask around and you will get to know about a number of decent restaurants. Especially, you will find plenty of Chinese restaurants in Delhi easily. People in Delhi enjoy Chinese cuisine. ...
... And ofcourse, you can also try the Indian cuisine at all the high-end restaurants. For the best North Indian food, try the Bukhara; for the best Awadhi cuisine, try Dum Pukht; and Dakshin at the Sheraton New Delhi Hotel is considered to be amongst the best South Indian restaurants in Delhi. For more options one can simply go to Connaught Place. Connaught Place is loaded with good restaurants serving every possible cuisine. Saket is also home to many decent restaurants.

Those on a long vacations have had enough of the Chinese restaurants in Delhi or the Once your stomach adjusts to the fabled Delhi Belly. Well, it is a fabled norm for Delhites, for they are immune to all the germs they take in with all that street food they eat. A visit to Delhi is incomplete without trying the piping hot jalebis, the chatpati aloo chaat, the sinful khurchan, the refreshing roadside chai with fan and samosas, and the irresistible parathas at Chandni Chowk. Your inhibitions of eating at the streets will fade away and your tummy will be happy. No Chinese restaurants in Delhi can replace the food found at Chandni Chowk. You can also find some age-old vendors selling delicious south Indian that no other South Indian restaurants in Delhi can beat.

The people and the food found at the streets is what best defines Delhi. As you dig in a little deep, you will fall in love with the people and the place. People in Delhi live life king size. They have big bellies but even bigger are there hearts.
