The town is located in the Palakkad district of Kerala lies in a depression in the Western Ghats. It is the place where the state of Kerala is united to Tamil Nadu. There are lots of small villages that are positioned in and around the place and in many of these villages the language spoken is Tamil as opposed to the key language of the state which is Malayalam. These villages are good to experience a typical Tamil Brahmin life. Tourist can easily locate the important places of this town on Palakkad map.


HOW TO REACH?

The town has two railway stations and the main one is the Palakkad Junction and there are everyday trains that arrive from many parts of the state and other key cities as well. The nearby international airport is situated at Coimbatore. For those who are arriving by air, this is the suitable option. Government buses and private buses are also available from many parts of the state to the town.

The main attraction of this place is the Chinakathoor Kavu Temple. In this temple Chinakathoor Pohoram is held annually. Other prominent place of attraction is The Palakkad Fort. This famous historical fort was built by Haider Ali in the year 1776 and is noted for its granite structure. Beside these two places one should not miss to see these places also - Silent Valley National Park and Dhoni Waterfalls.
