Salvia extracts are the most potent form of salvia divinorum available today. It is done by taking generous amount of leaves and disintegrating the chemical substance called salvinorin-a to produce a powerful and potent salvia extract. One reason why it became too popular to salvia divinorum’s connoisseurs is its portability and easier ingestion method. Traditional way of using salvia divinorum involves chewing, grinding and tea making, which can be very awful when it comes to taste. It is so bitter that one can experience nausea while doing this. It can also be very uncomfortable to bring it everywhere due to its bulk size and tedious way of preparing them.

In order to obtain salvia extract, you need to buy it from an online store or from your local head shop. However, it can be very costly depending upon the level of potency (like 5X, 10X, 15X, 100X and so on). Even the lowest potency level can cost you a generous amount of dollars, which can be painful especially if you are a diehard fan of salvia extracts. However, did you know that you could easily make your own strong extract without having to spend much? Do ...
... not worry, I will not be too technical and will guide you in the simplest language I can.

The things you’ll need:
1. Reagent grade acetone (do not use nail polish remover!)
2. About 20 – 100g dried salvia divinorum leaves
3. Sauce pan
4. Fine mesh strainer
5. Glass jar or glass beaker, about 2 to 4 pieces to be used on different solutions
6. Tool ground leaves into a fine powder (or the finest you can)
7. Naphtha

The steps:
1. Grind or crush salvia leaves
2. Soak leaves completely with acetone for about five minutes while stirring
3. Strain the liquid using a strainer and put it on a glass jar or beaker and set the leaves aside
4. Repeat the process up to three times to make sure that all of the salvinorin-a from the leaves were extracted, mix all of the acetones in one container
5. Discard leaves
6. Let the acetone sit for about 24 hours, store in a cool dark place away from any strong light.
7. Pour off the acetone and be careful to leave all tannins and residues at the bottom, do not let them pour off with the liquid, after that discard all tannins and other residues left from the container
8. Evaporate acetone by putting the container in a dark place away from any source of light (this is to prevent salvinorin-a’s destruction due to light exposure). Let one week pass and do not ever attempt to see what has happened to prevent light from reaching your solution
9. After a week and all of the acetone has been completely dried out, all you must have is a greasy mass of dark piece of chunk.
10. Pour in naphtha over the dark mass and crush it while subjected to the liquid, then let it sit for about an hour and you’ll see some residues begins to settle at the bottom, this is pure salvinorin-a
11. Pour off naphtha leaving the salvinorin residue behind. Save your naphtha in a separate container as there will be more salvinorin-a to settle from them
12. Add more naphtha to your residue and sit it enough to completely settle all of the residues again and pour off all naphtha to your separate container
13. Repeat step 12 (For every repeat, you’ll notice that the residue’s color changes, continue doing this until no more color change happens or until it is clear white or doesn’t have any brown or dark green colors left)
14. When done, allow the extract/residue to dry completely (don’t use this, this is far too potent for you or anyone else)

The produced product here is very strong that it cannot be used directly. You need to infuse with plain dry leaves to be able to consume it. Fortification is the process of taking your salvinorin-a to a fresh leaf to be able to consume it easily and safely.
