Don't Let Depression Ruin Your New Year

New Year's Eve can electrify a person. There's the rush that comes over you, when you imagine the bright lights and the fireworks. Mutual joy overcomes the people and you can get yourself lost in the pleasures of a night leading to the culmination of a year. This is the time you have been waiting for and you intend to live through it to the fullest.
However, upon waking up the next morning, you feel empty, deflated and unwilling to go on into the next year, but this state of mind has nothing to do with the amount of alcoholic beverages you have consumed. What you are experiencing is post-New-Year's depression, which is fairly common especially for people, who are known as more melancholic.
Crashing down from such a high is not one of the most pleasurable things and can lead to a very unproductive period, which can in itself turn into a vicious cycle, so consider yourself warned that this is a real thing and you can do a lot to make sure this doesn't happen to you.
What I heartily recommend is the inclusion of resolutions. In the grander scheme of things, it doesn't really matter whether you have achieved ...
... your goals the way you have written them down, because nothing happens truly to the intent we want. The list of resolutions will give you something to work on so that you do not have to clean during the evening alone in London (what actually happened to me on January), because you had nothing better to do.
Resolutions put a great deal of your life in perspective and having your year measure up to something will distract you from forming truly unnecessary depressing thoughts. The number of resolutions you set is entirely up to you and it doesn't necessarily have to be big resolutions of the life-changing variety. Start with something small and then ramp it up. Doing resolutions successfully requires forming a habit.
The very next thing to include in your daily routine is movement. It doesn't necessarily have to mean exercise, but walking more. If you have to go somewhere and it doesn't take half an hour commuting, I am use that you can schedule in some time to make it there on foot. A brisk walk will provide better circulation and as a result a better attitude. Social events that require movement should also be included. Pillow fights, cooking parties, going out and about town with friends are classic tactics to stuff back depression where it belongs (at the back of your head).
For those without a passion for too much socializing, you might resort to cleaning. Sometimes it can be the reason for your depression, though others it can be the solution for your problem. If you have been postponing cleaning your garage or scrubbing your oven, now is the time to take that on board. Especially, if you are feeling restless at night. Evening cleaning London might prove to be the best solution for you before bed.
