The 600N family of internal print servers are network interface cards which are compatible with enhanced I/O (EIO) printers. These print servers are not only meant for printers but they are also compatible with mopiers as well. These print servers enable you to connect and share your printer anywhere within the network range and are capable of printing at network speeds. Installing these print servers are very easy and do not require any expertise or professional knowledge. The card is first installed in the printer and then connected to the network. Later the card needs to be configured for operation from remote locations within the network range. At times, the printer management software also serves helpful in configuring these servers. Also the printer’s control panel can be useful for configuring the basic network parameters.

Prior installing you need to ensure that you have the correct card compatible with your network. Some of these 600N print servers are fitted with data rate switches and hence it is required to set this rate at par with your network ...
... speed. You also need to set the jumper switch in ‘auto’ position which indicates the default position. In this position the card itself will detect the network and will get connected to it at the detected speed and communication mode. Ensure that your printer is working satisfactorily by printing a printer configuration page. If the printer has a printer server already installed in it before then it will get reflected in the printer’s service configuration print.

While installing the card into the printer ensure that the power cord is disconnected. Identify the I/O (EIO) slot located on the backside of the printer where you have to install the server. The slot may have a cover plate which you need to remove before installing the card. Align the card and then press it slightly until it is firmly seated. Then assemble the printer and connect the network cable to the card. To verify that the card is properly installed or not you can take a printer configuration print which will reflect the card details installed in the EIO slot. Now you need to configure the card for network operation and your 600N series of server is ready to function.
