There are many operating systems available in the market. If I am interested in mobile application development I might have to choose between different operating systems. Some of the commonly used operating systems are Android, Windows, Iphone OS, Symbian, and Blackberry OS. With Increase in the number of smart phones availability in the market, mobile application development is also on its boom. First time developers conceptualise an idea of mobile application development and then there is no looking back.

Now, the question arises which one is better Android or Windows operating system. Let’s start with the hand sets. Market share of android is more and it is supported by the variety of mobiles available in the market. Android based mobile phones cater all kinds of people. Windows based mobile phones are lesser in number but this doesn’t mean that window phones are downgraded but whatever number is available in the market they fall in the category of high end smart phones. There are many versions of android available on different mobile phones, some famous versions are jelly bean, cream sandwich, ginger bread etc. While developing a mobile application one has to keep in mind about the version also. On updating ones mobile, the chances of losing an application is the biggest fear. Window mobiles have two major versions 7 and 8. Windows 8 being the latest and with higher scope of mobile application development.

The low penetration barrier in mobile application development market has raised the interest level among many people. Proper research needs to be done before starting the work on mobile application development. When conducted on a proper scale with perfect timing the return on investment is always higher.
