Stanford Business School (no. 1 B-school) – Distinct Advantages
Stanford Graduate School of Business (Stanford GSB) is ranked number 1 among all the B-Schools world over. Located at the West Coast in California State of USA, Stanford dislodged Harvard B-School from number 1 slot. Stanford drives itself from the philosophy “Change lives. Change organizations. Change the world.”
Founded in 1925, Stanford GSB boasts of a renowned faculty in management education that includes three Nobel laureates. The best advantage of Stanford GSB is limited number of seats on offer which is around 400 for MBA Program. The yearly intake in other B-Schools is around 700-800.
The Alumni of Stanford includes leaders in organizations across Africa, Asia Pacific, Europe, The Middle East, Latin America and North America. As per Fawzi Jumean, MBA 2005, EVP, Head of Dubai office, Morgan Stanley, “The Stanford MBA experience has taught me that openness and diversity are effective in enhancing organizations. In the private equity firm that my partners and I are building and in the companies that we serve, I have found that marrying transparency with integrity strengthens business relations and produces ...
... tangible results.”
As per Stanford GSB, applications for two year MBA are received in three rounds. One can apply in any of the rounds. Over the years, Round 2 has become bigger & more competitive. Best strategy is, never rush to apply in a particular round unless one is satisfied with the application. But applying early has advantages such as more time to pursue aid award, ample time to complete preliminary course work, sufficient time to complete visa formalities etc.
GMAT Test Score is required for admission to the MBA Program at Stanford. Although GRE – including GRE revised General Test is also accepted as an alternative. There is no minimum GMAT Test score for Stanford GSB (However, in 2011, the average GMAT Score was 730 ranging from 580 to790), but GMAT Exam must be taken before the application submission and GMAT Score must be valid on the deadline date of the Round one is applying in. If one has taken GMAT Test multiple times, then report only that GMAT Score which one wants to be considered. Also, if GMAT Score is valid then one does not need to take Next Generation GMAT.
The total yearly intake in Stanford GSB is around 390. The fee for the MBA Program is $90,531 for the first year. The average salary offered to Stanford graduate is around $125,000 excluding bonus and other benefits of $45,000. The average work experience of the class is around 48months.
Stanford GSB was ranked no.1 by US News among all B-schools world over. The ranking is based on a weighted average of indicators such as Recruiter assessment score, Mean starting salary & Bonus, Employment Rates, Mean GMAT Score etc.
