Bluetooth Sticker Could Mean No More Lost Pets
A great new innovation for animal lovers could see far fewer pets being lost, having escaped off the lead or escaped over a fence.
A revolutionary Bluetooth sticker can simply be attached to a collar or a tag. Being similar in size to a ten pence coin and weighing just 4.5 grams, they are light enough for most animals, including kittens.
Dual platform support
The technology has been developed by US firm SSI America, and is expected to roll out its Stick-N-Find devices across Europe. Each one can be synced to a number of devices, such as mobile phones and tablets. The device is presently supported on both iOS and Android operated devices, and 20 stickers can feed to one device. As well as setting off a buzzer and flashing lights to find lost animals, a radar function is provided over a 30 metre range.
Set a distance
An alarm will be activated if a pet moves a certain distance from the owner's phone. Known as a 'Virtual Leash', it will remove a lot of worry for many people. Another setting allows for out of range pets to alert the device when they enter the radius of the radar. Known as 'Find ...
... It', a later update is likely to also see more accurate location detection. Operated by a simple watch battery, each device should stay powered up for up to a year.
John Mitts, the engineer behind the tech at SSI said:
“Just like everyone we lose stuff all the time so, we thought, why not design an ultra-small Bluetooth connected sticker you can stick on any animal so you can easily find them?”
It is also possible to use them on remote controls, keys and even children. It's ideal for catching up with a cat when it is flea treatment time too though, so it could certainly save a lot of pet related stress.
