Samsung I900 Omnia Silver
The Samsung i900 Omnia 8GB has now been made available on the UK network Orange contract deals whilst the larger 16GB model is now available on O2 contract deals, further networks are expected to launch one or both of these amazing new smart phones in the near future.
The Samsung i900 Omnia Silver lets you control the Samsung i900 with simple and intuitive gestures and touches, scroll, pan, flip or zoom with a single touch. The large WVGA display and touch sensitive screen brings full control to your fingertips, literally.
Let the Samsung i900 move with you. A built in accelerometer lets the Samsung Omnia automatically adjust to whatever angle you hold. Shake, flip or spin and the Samsung i900 adapts displaying extra menu options, switching movies to wide-screen or simply adjusting the display to the most comfortable angle.
Capture special moments with the Samsung i900 Omnia. A 5 mega-pixel camera with auto focus, LED flash lets you take digital camera quality photographs without your camera. Face detection technology ...
... automatically tracks faces in photographs making sure they are always in focus and sharp.
We review the Omnia i900. With a slick touch screen, a five-megapixel camera and Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional behind the scenes how does it measure up to the Apple branded monster, or indeed the rest of the touch screen market.
With a name that is an amalgamation of Latin and Arabic words meaning 'everything' and 'wish' Samsung obviously has high aspirations for the i900 Omnia.
You'd be forgiven for mistaking it for an iPhone at first glance it certainly seems to model itself on its massively successful competitor, particularly with that large 3.2-inch touch screen crowning its sleek silver and black styling.
Dimensions-wise, the Omnia is a little narrower and shorter than the iPhone but we're talking a difference of millimeters at most and it also only weighs in at 125g meaning that it won't become too much of a burden in your pocket.
The display is a generous 3.2-inch touch screen affair, and whilst the WQVGA resolution of 240x400 pixels is a little disappointing, at least you get plenty of screen real-estate to play with. It's fairly bright and crisp on the whole, but visibility in direct sunlight can be a bit of a problem.
The only 'hard' buttons on the front are the 'call answer' and 'call end' buttons and unassumingly placed between the two is an optical mouse which unfortunately wasn't much use outside of web browsing. For more details http://www.phoneandbeyond.com
