Mumbai, the melting pot of various cultures and diversities is perhaps India’s one of the most important cities. It is a state capital and India’s financial hub and one of the world’s top 10 commerce centers based on the voluminous funds flow. The native dwellers of the city were fishing colonies that inhabited the place for its natural harbor. In the 16th century, Mumbai witnessed the arrival of Portuguese who marked major changes in the city. The city witnessed another upturn when it was gifted to British as a dowry when Portugal Princess Catherine de Braganza was married to King Charles II in the year 1661. Thereafter British continued to reap on its magnificent harbor till India attained its freedom on August 15th, 1947.
