Network Inventory With Newt Professional
IT pros all over the world have always needed to deal with the growing need to keep track of more and more PCs, tablets, phones, etc. as a business grows. This field is commonly known as Network Inventory, or PC auditing. Not too long ago, if a tech needed Hardware and Software Inventory over their network, it meant physically visiting every computer and entering configuration info a spreadsheet manually. Nowadays users have a large selection of software to make Network Inventory simpler. NEWT Professional is one of those software products that lessen work involved in Asset Management. In constant development since 2003, Komodo Labs has created a highly efficient PC Inventory tool, able to literally scan hundreds of computers in just minutes, saving time and money for organizations of all sizes.
In the sea of Network Management Software, there are a few different methods used to Network Inventory computers. Two of the main types are tools designed to use an agent, then there are ones which are agent-less. Most all agent-less tools are extremely slow or have serious issues ...
... with security configurations and firewalls, for example, WMI (Windows Management Interface), and so they require going to individual computer systems to "fix" WMI problems before successful audits can be performed. This is very frustrating to the Network Inventory advisor. Using an agent to get around these issues frequently requiring days or hours of extensive setup and deployment, but not with NEWT Professional.
The developers of Komodo Labs have devoted well over an entire year redesigning their NEWT Professional sofware to alleviate these Network Administration problems. NEWT Professional now only needs access to the ADMIN$ (administrator share), which is available to administrators by default in Windows NT, Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8. This enables users to Network Inventory the same information in only minutes rather than hours or days. Not only have scan speeds improved, but network bandwidth has been greatly reduced, making it possible to accomplish Network Inventory over slow connections, for example WANs (Wide Area Networks), with little effect on network traffic.
NEWT Professional is extremely useful where total Network Inventory is required, and several MSP (Managed Service Providers) and Network Inventory advisors use NEWT Professional to quickly scan networks for their customers. It detects all of the normal Hardware and Software Inventory info, including CPU type, computer serial numbers, OS & Office Product Keys, etc., but goes one step further, gathering CPU temperature, system and hard disk temperature, USB type (1.x, 2.0 or 3.0), correct hard disk type (IDE versus. SATA) & serial number, monitor type (LCD/CRT), detailed RAM Slot info and many more. No other Network Inventory Software scans as much as NEWT Professional.
After finishing a Network Audit, data's available in a simple-to-read spreadsheet-like view, with options to save NEWT's own format, export to Excel, HTML, text or even a fully relational MS Access (MDB) database.
If you're looking for super fast network inventory, NEWT Professional meets the requirements of network professionals everywhere, with a high-level Total Cost of Ownership and Return on Investment.
