Authentic Flavors Of Mexico Is Celebrating Its 5th Anniversary In New York, This Coming December 10t
MIAMI, Dec. 10, 2012 /PRNewswire/ – In 2007, the Secretary of Agriculture supported the efforts for the creation of the nonprofit organization, Authentic Flavors of Mexico, that aims to promote the consumption of Mexican farm products abroad, through its gastronomy as well as to support the Mexican government, in a one of a kind project abroad, to maintain the distinction given by UNESCO to the Mexican cuisine: “Intangible Heritage of Humanity.”
For this important occasion unified efforts were made with the Cultural Institute of Mexico and Avocados from Mexico (APEAM) to raise funds for Hurricane Sandy’s Mexican victims, through the program “Guacamole for a Cause,” by donating 440 boxes of avocados to participating restaurants to prepare guacamole and to donate the proceeds of the sales profit in an account established by ICM for this purpose. Other companies joining this effort are: Wines La Cetto, Aeromexico, Hotels Boutique de Mexico, Hecho en Dumbo Restaurant, Products La Providencia, Cafe Balbuino, Chia Meztli, Nectarave and diverse tequila producers from Jalisco.

Besides, it is the only state that has an ostrich meat plant, TIF, and was recently certified to export pork to Japan.
During the award ceremony, drinks and dishes will be served inspired in Jalisco and it’s ingredients, cooked by culinary flavors coordinators: Danny Mena from Hecho en Dumbo, Roberto Santibanez from Fonda, as well as by the following chefs: Ivan Garcia from Mesa Coyoacan; Felipe Donnelly from Comodo; Oscar Hernandez from Tacombi; Cristina Castaneda from El Mitote; Barbara Sibley from La Palapa; Fany Gerson from La NewYorkina and Julian Medina from Toloache.
