There are two types of cholesterol, bad cholesterol, LDL, and good cholesterol, HDL. Good cholesterol is the type your body makes, and the bad cholesterol is the type we add to the good when we eat things we shouldn't. LDL cholesterol clogs arteries and is better at the lowest levels. HDL is naturally made in our bodies and is better at higher levels.

Furthermore, there is medication prescription that a doctor can prescribe. So, if you have too much of the bad cholesterol, and it is not recommended to replace that medication with home remedies. However, there are good and inexpensive things you can do at home to keep the cholesterol under control. Although, these home remedies can be used with the prescribed medications to help keep good cholesterol under control and keep bad cholesterol away.

Water

Regularly, drink at least eight glasses of water to stimulate your kidneys and help your body flush out toxins, including excess "bad" cholesterol. Additionally, you can add the juice of a squeezed onion to one glass of water each day to help cleanse your blood and regulate your heart rhythm. Add a teaspoon ...
... of fresh ground coriander to one glass of water each day to lower the cholesterol level in your blood and stimulate the kidneys to release toxins.

Mud

Apply a mud pack on your abdomen once a day to improve your digestion, liver function and kidney performance. Moreover, this not only encourages your body to excrete toxins stored in the fat cells, but it is also a helpful way to reduce overall stress and improve heart function.

Diet

Eat a diet rich in high-fiber, low-cholesterol foods, such as whole grains, sunflower seeds, legumes, oatmeal, apples, green leafy vegetables, brown rice, lean meats, walnuts, almonds, lichenin, garlic and soy. Avoid fatty or high-cholesterol foods like red meats, bacon, eggs, organ meats, full-fat cheese, butter and vegetable oils.
Try to avoid foods that are highly processed or made of refined wheat, flour or sugars. Limit your gluten intake, and stick to natural ingredients whenever possible.

Teas & Supplements

Boil 10 sticks of cinnamon once a day in five cups of water, add one teaspoon of honey, and drink it as a hot tea. Boil two teaspoons of coriander in two cups of water twice a day, strain the mix, and drink it as a tea. Take fish oil capsules before bed each night to help lower your levels of triglycerides and "bad" cholesterol. Take Indian bdellium capsules once a day to maintain your body's HDL to LDL ratio of cholesterol.
